Worth It

In "Worth It," I wanted to show the real-life trials that come when a young woman chooses life. In doing so, I aimed to illustrate the deeper and brighter truth — that life is beautiful in itself, that hardship can dim its goodness but not erase it, and that those who put their trust in life over death will not be disappointed in the end. In short, life is worth it.

George Washington’s Mount Vernon

George Washington is one of my biggest heroes and I have been a card-carrying member of Mount Vernon since I moved to the D.C. area. So I was thrilled to get the chance to film there during a private event for a large non-profit. This video was my personal homage to General Washington taken from the environmental footage I captured during the evening.

Against the Current

Jack Denton was a college senior and the President of the Student Senate at Florida State University. He was “canceled” by a campus mob after private text messages expressing his Catholic beliefs went viral. This piece tells Jack’s story of patience and kindness even in the face of slander.

Rebuild Chicago

With COVID-19 threatening lives and businesses throughout Chicago, I felt moved to do what I could to lift the city’s spirits. I found a speech given soon after the great Chicago fire of 1871 by Rev. Robert Collyer, and knew that his words were as true today as they were then. So I set framed them between shots of the great city of Chicago and its resilient people.

Hurricane Dorian Relief

What started as an overnight assignment in Florida turned into a trip spanning 10 days, 8 flights, 4 cities and 2 countries as we chased the story of the Caribbean’s worst hurricane in decades and the Knights of Columbus' intense efforts to help.

Supplies for Migrants

During the great migrant crisis in 2019, the Knights of Columbus delivered vital medical, nutritional, and hygienic supplies to several migrant shelters in Mexico including those in Juarez and Piedras Negras where I led crews in filming the supplies being unloaded and given to the residents.

10 Things Lent

I would have never guessed that this goofy project would be the one to get nominated for an Emmy. It was nominated in the Chicago/Midwest region of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for Outstanding Achievement for Informational/Instructional Programming. While it didn’t win, it made for a grand evening at the Emmys and remains one of my favorite pieces.

Panasonic AG-CX350 Official Review

You know you’re holding a pre-release camera when the serial number on it simply reads “4”. Having long been a customer at B&H it was awesome working on this official review for their site.

FOCUS Conference Recap

There’s live event coverage, then there’s five days of non-stop action with 10,000 college students. Leading this shoot in Phoenix stretched me in every direction at once and taught me a ton about managing production in fast-paced, chaotic environments.

Tekton Promotional

The creative challenge in this piece was how to make a really compelling promo video for a client with few existing video assets and no budget for additional production. Using several animation techniques for still photos, I was able to create a visually enthralling piece with strong messaging for a fraction of the cost of live production.

Luce Leather

Although this piece was shot on a humble DSLR a number of years ago, it remains one of my favorites because it remains a testament to Nicole’s passion for her craft and the love she puts into each piece of leatherwork she creates.
